Waratah Coal’s tenements are concentrated in the Alpha region of the Galilee Basin, west of Emerald in central Queensland as part of an extensive development portfolio. The Galilee Basin is an outstanding region with significant proven coal reserves previously considered unfeasible for commercial exploitation due to its location some 500 kilometres from Queensland’s coast.

The project location holds several major competitive advantages due to the heavy concentration and high quality of the proven export grade thermal coal deposits. Waratah Coal has three tenements in the Alpha region and plans to development a thermal coal mine as part of its China First project.
