Over 32 years of experience in Commercial Law and service on public company boards.

He was a partner of Feez Ruthning ( a large Queensland based law firm) for 27 years, and as Managing Partner oversaw its merger in 1996 with Allen Allen & Hemsley, a leading Sydney based corporate law firm. He continued as a partner of the merged firm until 2001, when Allens merged with Melbourne based Arthur Robinson to create the major national law firm Allens Arthur Robinson.

Howard now runs a boutique firm, with one major client, Macquarie Generation who are the owners of the Bayswater and Liddell power stations in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. He provides strategic legal/commercial advice to them principally on their fuel and infrastructure projects.

Howard’s board experience includes Australian National Industries Limited, Flight Centre Limited, Eastern Corporation Limited, Data# 3 Limited, Southern Cross Pumps & Irrigation Limited, Magnetica Limited and Voxson Limited, including varying periods as Chairman in all except Flight Centre.

In the Community, he has been Chairman of the Brisbane Grammar School since 1991.
